The data shows A Significant Decrease in Suspensions, Fights and Other Violations at Connecticut High School

The 26 Other Violations during the 2011 – 2012 school year were for the following reasons:

14 -- Insubordination, disrespectful behavior, and offensive language.

8 -- Class cuts

2 – Assaults

2 -- Harassment

  • In the school years from 2011-2012 to 2012 – 2013:

    • Class cut suspensions were down from 8 to 6

    • Insubordination, disrespectful behavior and use of offensive language suspensions were down from 14 to 9

  • Although, the amount of fights were down from last year, this year there were multiple individuals involved in some fights which made the total of suspensions for the year seem high in comparison to last year.

  • Our Administration has been conducting informal mediations with certain individuals after concerned classmates have provided us with information of potential conflicts.

  • Collectively, we have managed to prevent several conflicts even though we were not able to use the Peer Mediation Process.
